Jim Roberts- President/CEO

Jim received a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan and a MBA from Michigan State University.  He has his series 7 and 66 licenses and is also licensed for health and life insurance.

Jim began his career in the investment business in 2005. Prior to his career in the investment business, he served as a Managing Director and Account Executive for CB Richard Ellis in their Global Corporate Services Division. In this role, Jim was responsible for managing all aspects of corporate real estate portfolios. This included overall responsibility for items such as facilities management, transaction management, lease administration, engineering technical services, administrative services, vehicle fleet management, and finance/accounting services. His responsibilities included managing his client's operations in 52 countries and the management of operating budgets in excess of $460 million/year. His areas of expertise include strategy development, re-engineering, operations, and financial analysis.

Prior to joining CB Richard Ellis, Jim served as a Senior Program Director for Earth Tech, a wholly owned consulting subsidiary of Tyco International. While with Earth Tech, he was responsible for providing strategic planning for environmental programs, client management, large project management, and the management of a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists. Jim also served as a senior engineer in the hazardous waste program for the State of Michigan. During his tenure, he developed statutory and administrative rules for the hazardous waste program, served as a technical advisor to the State Attorney General's office, and worked on the permitting of hazardous waste facilities.

Jim currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Minority Business Development Council, West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum, Citizen Advisor for the Berrien County Pension and Trust Investment Advisory Committee, and Audit Committee for the Child and Family Services of Southwest Michigan.  He was also appointed in 2008 to the Council for Labor and Economic Growth by the Governor of Michigan. His appointment by the Governor was for a 4-year term.

He has previously served on the Board of Directors for Michigan State University Weekend MBA Alumni Association, the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Board of Governors for the University of Michigan Engineering Alumni Association, Board of Directors for the West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum, the Cornerstone Women's Business Council, the West Michigan Environmental Action Council, Junior Achievement of Berrien/Cass Counties, and served as the President of the University of Michigan Engineering Class of 1983.
